What do you need in terms of schools, transport etc, what is your budget and what sized property do you need

Twizbe · 28/06/2022 13:56

Where are you coming from and what do you need access to?

Salome61 · 28/06/2022 15:57

What is your budget?

Hammon · 29/06/2022 09:31

That is a pretty small budget. You will probably not get anything in the nicer areas for that
The North is generally cheaper than other places but not that cheap

This. Unfortunately you will not get that much house for that budget, especially on the coast

You don't have to go far out of Durham city to find 2-3 bedroom houses within your budget. The former mining villages such as Ushaw Moor, Brandon, Sherburn Village, Pity me etc put you on the edge of countryside but on bus routes into the city. https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/map.html?locationIdentifier=REGION%5E460&maxPrice=125000&numberOfPropertiesPerPage=499&propertyTypes=&includeSSTC=false&viewType=MAP&mustHave=&dontShow=&furnishTypes=&viewport=-1.70951%2C-1.47244%2C54.7301%2C54.8118&keywords=

You will get a reasonable house in Cramlington Northumberland. Lots of the areas are semi rural( esp around the outskirts) large shopping centre, cinema, sports/ lesuire centre. Some nice bars in the little village area. Train station, around 15 mins into Newcastle or Metrocentre. North to Morpeth where you can catch trains to Edinburgh. Buses can be a bit hit/miss depending on where you live in Cramlington. Some good primary schools but the High School has had a few issues.

Thefailinghousewife · 29/06/2022 11:17

How big a house? Would you consider a flat?

cramlington as mentioned would be a good move. Prudhoe as well, but don’t goto Chopwell as it’s cheap but not the best area. You might get a flat in North Shields but you need to be careful on areas there - you are aiming to be towards the Tynemouth end or it’s a bit dodgy. It’s walking distance to the sea though.

I think flats in that area will be over the OP budget.

I think you will struggle to find anything coastal in Northumberland for that price. How many bedrooms do you need?

As mentioned Cramlington is well connected and has plenty of amenities. Blyth is coastal and would fit your budget but is a bit of an iffier area- the town centre isn’t very nice but the beach is lovely.
