Long distance (relatively) removal - any recommendations? And success stories?

We are moving ca. 300 miles - do you have any long distance removal company you'd recommend? I think it's going to be a 2 days' job - moving everything into house A on day 1 and then van goes up to house B on day 2. But I am not sure how it works! I'd love to hear from people who have done before to find out how it went for you. Hopefully positively.

We did a 600 mile move - packing on day 1, finishing packing and loading by lunchtime on day 2, travelling afternoon of day 2 and all day on day 3, arrived by 9 am and unloading on day 4. All went really well.

We got 3 quotes (and they were all similar prices) but went with GB Liners and were very pleased with them.

We did a 300 mile move last year with two small kids and a pet.
Day 1: pet courier took pet, while me and kids drove up motorway and stayed in a hotel near new house, DH supervised packing and part load. Pet delivered to kennels near new house.
Day 2: DH supervised final load and clean then sat around twiddling thumbs waiting for solicitor's call. Me and DC went and skimmed stones in a river and ate donuts 300 miles away waiting for the same. When we got the call, I collected the keys to new place and went and danced about the empty house with DC while DH dropped keys to EA and started driving. Met us at hotel.
Day 3: I met removal lorry at 8am at new house while DH checked out of hotel with DC after breakfast. All day unloading. First night in new house.
Day 4: collected pet from kennels.

We got a bunch of quotes which were broadly similar (££££) and ended up going with a company which was part of a national syndicate with local operations (Britannia) because they had secure yards to park up in overnight and weren't phased by a multi day long distance move.

They still haven't picked up my moving boxes, mind...

Good luck with the move!

Thank you so much - this is reassuring read. I remind myself that people do these moves everyday. We also have pets to move - and 2 x kids.

200 mile move. Most of the house was packed up in the main van the day before and then went into a storage yard overnight. DH drove up that night and stayed in Premier Inn with one child.

Big van then had early start and arrived at new house before DH had the keys. Bit of a wait but they were busy unloading straight away once we had access.

I stayed back with one child and on the day of completion a support van picked up the two remaining beds and the other bare essentials we had kept at 7am. I dropped the keys into the estate agent as soon as they opened and then we drove up with a small suitcase of clothes and toiletries and the cats. By the time we arrived at the new house the support van had already been and gone.

Worked really well. We just used a local firm.
