do people spending £9m on a house really look on rightmove?

Saw this today. I can't imagine people with that sort of money scouring RM. Surely they just have a buyer/agent who touches bases regularly with all the agents that sell this type of house.
If this was your house, why would you want the world to see it either as the vendor or a potential buyer?

Oh who doesn’t love Rightmove?
Can’t imagine that changing just because you’re a millionaire 🤔

CredibilityProblem · 23/06/2022 07:14

It's perfect but also completely soulless. Do you think it was a wreck and redone by a developer? Or an oligarch's fourth pad in the country but he'd just got it finished and then changed his mind about what school he wanted to send the twins to?

I'll pass, because for that money I'd want a pool. And can you imagine the fuel bills? It's LPG, and they haven't even fitted a ground source heat pump and underfloor heating.

Oblomov22 · 23/06/2022 07:17

God, it's so beautiful. The decor is amazing.

I might tone down one of the green walls to a cream, and remove some if the books in the smaller bookcases and replace them with a dresser. I'd put a new front gate. Other than that I could move straight in. It's lovely.

But no, there are plenty of 9 million places on Rightmove. 2 near me.

Maireas · 23/06/2022 07:18

That's a beautiful, elegant house.
Only marred by those ugly grey kitchen units, but hey - only the staff probably have to look at those! Wink

hugoagogo · 23/06/2022 07:21

I wouldn't be bothered about a pool, but would want a separate kitchen and dining room.

RiaG91 · 23/06/2022 07:21

I think it's absolutely stunning and well decorated.

Why shouldn't houses of that value be listed on rightmove? People with that kind of money don't always have others to do things for them. Perhaps they'd like to maximise the marketing of the property and rightmove is a key way to do that now-a-days: irrelevant of the house price.

Bells3032 · 23/06/2022 07:23

Put in hampstead garden suburb and see plenty of houses twice that price on Rightmove.

Think you're completely wrong. It's not gonna be sold to a local just walking past so how are they gonna sell it if not on a property website

Wisteriaroundthedoor · 23/06/2022 07:28

That’s lovely I wonder who lives there.

CredibilityProblem · 23/06/2022 07:28

I think that the flunkies of the rich are just as keen to have life made easier for them as the rest of us. If your boss says "find me a house in the country, your budget is ten million" then I'd certainly welcome the opportunity to spend half an hour gawping on Right Move then take the rest of the day off.

redbigbananafeet · 23/06/2022 07:29

Lewis Capaldi talks about how when he started making money he wanted to move out of his parents house but didn't know how to go about it. Ed Sheeran showed him Right Move on his phone and that's how he bought his house.

ChangedMyNamrButStillMe · 23/06/2022 07:32

Where do you think they’d look instead?

Minimalme · 23/06/2022 07:44

It's lovely but it's just too big. The home office with a desk stranded in the corner along with a random table that seats 10.

Chairs and sofas everywhere in an attempt to make it look like a home.

A small bath marooned in the middle of a vast room.

It just seems so impractical.

I guess the spare houses would be for the gardener and domestic staff maybe?

I would love an apartment there though.

I used to live a couple of miles from this. Last time it went up for sale it was on Rightmove. I always imagined the Queen browsing it!

Was that where Pride and Prejudice was filmed? I remember looking at it -and loving it!!

OP I LOVE that house, every single thing about it,even the name!!

ExtremelyDedicated · 23/06/2022 07:59

I could live with the decor (unlike some of the posh houses that are much more twee) but would be doing the bathrooms and kitchen again pretty quickly, I don't like freestanding baths and would completely change the kitchen.

Billybagpuss · 23/06/2022 09:12

I like the first one especially the greenhouse area but the second Is more like a conference hotel than a home

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 23/06/2022 09:25

Well I've got a ticket for the Euromillions on Friday.
Conkwell Grange here I come 😁

Badger1970 · 23/06/2022 09:26

It's a beautiful house but it's been restored to look like a McMansion....... the kitchen isn't sympathetic to the age of the house or the flooring. That interior could be in any house, anywhere Sad

Mind you, at least it doesn't look like something from footballers wives like a lot of Rightmove mansions tend to!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 23/06/2022 09:28

This one is a bargain in comparison.

NightmareSlashDelightful · 23/06/2022 09:33

My barrister friend browsed Rightmove when they were looking, and he bought a house for £4m that he spotted on there, so rich people do use it I think.

I also think it's about page clicks for Rightmove — people share and link to those 'property porn' places and it drives up RM's page view share of market, which helps their marketing to high-end clients.

a great balcony for a shag!

I used to live near that house, Wentworth Woodhouse, and used to walk down the the driveway leading up to the house with my dog, it’s the longest of any stately home in the country apparently. Pride and Prejudice wasn’t filmed there but another BBC series, Wives and Daughters, was in the ‘90s and the fifth season of The Crown is being filmed there now. It’s a beautiful house and I would have loved a look round inside.

DoubleShotEspresso · 23/06/2022 20:15

That's a really beautiful and tastefully presented house.
Never going to be in my sights but hey I guess if a buyer wants it enough they'll buy it via whichever channel?!
Goodness though what a lot of good you could do with £9mlllion!
