Will prices go through the roof?

I live in Solihull and I read it’s going to increase house prices even more! I imagine the same for Brum. www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-news/house-prices-solihull-could-go-20766824.amp

Bump, I am selling a property in Birmingham but this has crossed my mind lately and I now wonder if I should keep it at least until HS2 arrives.

Our picturesque village in the Chilterns is currently being ripped apart (literally) for HS2. Our nearest stop is over 50 miles away. The scheme is a disgrace, both from an environmental and business case perspective. I don't believe it will be operational until 2040s, and likely won't get further than Birmingham as they'll run out of cash. Ticket prices will be astronomical and they'll have to reduce the speed and number of trains. Honestly it's a disaster, don't put your life on hold for it!

Realistically though how much time is this going to save over the current Solihull to Marylebone line taking the fast train? The station is going to be near the NEC so not even central. It may have a slight impact but I can't see people relocating in droves from London to Solihull. (as lovely as Solihull is)

As a now northerner we need to stop with the London-centric attitude.
