Spraying UPVC windows, good idea?

Is Spraying UPVC windows, a good idea? We have just bought a house with brown 'rosewood' UPVC windows.

We want to match in with a new rear extension in anthracite and the windows which adjoin are very large. They would be costly to replace and they seem reasonably new.

Has anyone had them sprayed? We have had a very reasonable quote which comes with a 10-year guarantee. It is less than the cost of replacing one window!

We did this and it turned out very well. We are not in a period property so no lose of value. We have been through a full reno but the windows have definitely added a smarter touch.

I'd like to do this also, how did you find the company are they local specialists?

kitcat15 · 16/06/2022 00:16

Our neighbours have done this....had them sprayed black.....it took the work men 2 full days ( 3 bed victoriana semi) ... they look quite smart now

I intended to use local specialists but I did a search in Google and contacted a few companies. Surprisingly, the most competitive were not based in London / Essex but Midlands way (I'm edge of London - beginning of Essex). They seem to source or have local teams working for them.

I was pleased with the results and people often comment on the aesthetic of the house which, to me, is quite a turn of events as the house wasn't very attractive to start with!

Do they do the inside as well? What about the handles?

Ribb · 16/06/2022 17:56

They can do inside if you like and will price accordingly. I didn't require the handles so can't say whether they provide this service..

Just buy bin zinsser all coat and do it yourself, it's really easy.

Thanks, we have decided to go ahead and we have sourced a supplier to change the glass to a newer more thermally efficient type because they were also diamond leaded which we don't care for.
