Hi, has anyone bought new windows recently? If so, what was the cost? Have been quoted £7,000 for 8 cassette windows, not sure whether this is a good deal or not.

Thanks for reading.

How many quotes have you had?

I would wait an in about 6 weeks they'll start coming back to you with 'special offers.'

15 years ago we got 3 french doors, 8 windows and a front door for £7k. I think even with inflation your quote is high. Not sure what cassette windows are- like sash windows? I know they ten to run much more expensive.

We've been quoted the same for 5 windows plus french doors to replace the sliding patio door. 3 of the windows have two openings and a fanlight, one has one opening and a fanlight and the other has a panel that opens from the bottom.

(Only included the details about openings above because it affects the price!)

We are having ours fitted in about 4 weeks and paying £9500 inc. VAT for 19 windows

National firms tend to cost a lot more than local ones. I'd get in at least one more quote. It will depend on the sizes and whether they need scaffolding or anything. It sounds like a steep quote to me, but I'm in the NW of England, where things tend to be cheaper. We only paid just over a grand a window each for two where we needed scaffolding put up and we had the sills lowered- which meant cutting into the render and the brickwork and making that good as well. But when we do our big downstairs bay window, I'd expect that to be at lest £1,000.
