Who is responsible?

I bought a new build house which I moved into in Sept last year and recently started building an extension. The contractor put a skip on the drive which has damaged the monoblocking. Is this for the building contractor or the house builder to resolve? Ie. Should my drive reasonably be able to withstand a skip?

I doubt the actual builder put the skip on your drive, they usually use a skip hire company. We've had skips put on our brick drive and never had an issue. And wasn't the skip sat on the large piece of board in your photo, away from the actual damage? It look like you have drain covers and one of the drains is collapsing. I would contact the house builder that laid the drive.

I would start with the house builder. It should be able to withstand the weight of a skip

We have a similar drive and a skip a couple of years ago left a two-brick area of damage. The drive is around fifteen years old. So I think your driveway is defective around the drain area. An independent surveyor may be able to help?

Hard to be certain from your photo, is that collapse right by a drain cover?

One for the original builders I would have said.
I have block paviours right round my bungalow, they've probably been down the best part of 40 years. Never had anything like that happen.

As Lizziekisss pointed out it looks like subsidance where the inspection chamber meets the pipe.

Test 1 I would lift the cover and see if the pipe is still intact or blocked in any way.

Test 2 dump a run of water into the hollow and see if it drains into the pipe.

I would get the drains checked in case the pipe has cracked, being so near to the drain cover makes me think it's the drains rather than the skip. Whatever the reason, your drive shouldn't be sinking like that so I hope it's easily fixed.
