What is a good quality plumbing brand

We’ve been told we need to replace our kitchen mixer tap which is 4 years old. It was made by Carron Pheonix.

The quote we’ve had is for a “Cooke & Lewis” brand tap which doesn’t seem to be particularly good quality according to reviews.

It feels like we are replacing a bad product with something that is also just not going to last.

Im not familiar with tap brands - who makes a decent quality tap and has spares available reliably?

thanks

Best taps we’ve ever fitted have been Grohe or Hansgrohe.
in fact so good that when we moved into our current house it had a Grohe shower that had been fitted over 20 years ago. We replaced the manky cubicle but kept the taps/fittings and they still look and work as good as new.

Thanks @hannahcolobus . You’ve confirmed what I’m thinking about a false economy. Unfortunately the cartridge no longer being manufactured is the reason why we are having to go the replacement route in the first place. I think the plumber is suggesting the Cooke & Lewis option as a “disposable” solution which really doesn’t sit well with me.

grohe was the name I couldn’t think of, so thanks too @SunnySomer

our builder recommended Bristan as a not-too-expensive option that lasts.

I second Grohe / Hansgrohe well made, nice to use & they last

Grohe or crosswater

I managed to stumble upon some Grohe 'essentials' range, utter bargains at Argos and the quality is superb (particularly when used with quality wall fixings).
I paid about £40 for a towel ring, loo roll holder and a glass soap dispenser with holder a few years ago, still available now (not at Argos sadly) and collectively cost £120-ish.
I'm moving very soon and feel like taking them with me.. I won't though, but will pay more to buy the same again for my new home.

Grohe (and not Hansgrohe) every single time. The on/off mechanisms work so well. I can't think how many taps and shower taps across four homes I've replaced with them over the years. I tend to get their cheaper ones, don't see the point of the more pricey 'designs'.

Grohe gets the public vote! Thanks all!

Our plumber has recommended Hansgrohe also. We are renovating and haven't got the kitchen taps yet.

For a shower with a massive rain effect head and 3 body jets, we were quoted £5000!!! Shock. That does include he valves, and apparently long lasting- but I'm looking at other brands now too!
