Can you sand down after painting (and then patch in?)

First time doing this so please...

Newish home, time to redecorate. Removed wallpaper and filled in all little holes/blemishes with poly fill, sanded them all down (so I thought....😩)

Not expecting perfection, but was pleased with myself.

Two coats of paint later, my wall is covered in little bumps 😭😭 - (all the pointy bits are gone if that makes sense - I got those!) it looks like my wall is covered in bedbug bites 🤣

Can I resend gently and patch paint? Or would that look completely sh!t?

It's only my bedroom (did that first as trial run!) it's all a learning curve!

Thanks in advance 🙂

Yes if you use the same paint and do a larger area than the filled bits it should be fine. This is assuming you already have paint saturation by applying at least the right number of coats.

if the original area only had one coat then you’ll see the difference if the patched section has two.

If the surface of the wall is a bit rough, I would recommend using lining paper and painting that. Easier than it sounds and gives a great finish.

It depends what kind of pain you used. If it has a sheen it will flash meaning that you'll see the patches in the light

Alternatively and much simpler, use roll-on plaster instead. It's no more complicated than applying a coat of paint and uses the same equipment. Used it on my living room and didn't even bother with extra paint on top, so simple.

If you do it asap little patches of paint shouldn't show up but if you left the paint to dry for several months and then did it you'll probably see all the paint patches x

Did you sugar soap the walls after taking the wallpaper off? I’ve learned this the hard way! X

Yes, removed wallpaper, filled in, sanded (badly!) and sugar washed 🙂

Actually in better light and after a second coat it doesn't look that bad 👍🏻👍🏻

Know now for next time!

Thank You everyone, bloody love MN 😊
