Feedback on Spencers Wood (near Reading) needed

I just broke up with my emotionally abusive partner of almost 9 years and I am desperate to find a place to buy.
I might have found a flat in Spencers Wood near Reading but not sure what the area is like to live in or even what Reading is like.

I am a woman in my late 30s, single again :( no kids and most importantly desperate to move out asap.

I want peace and quiet but at the same time don't want to live somewhere where I would be feeling lonely and not able to meet anyone or make new friends.

Any feedback on what's it like to live in that area would be greatly appreciated. :)

P.S. my budget is currently limited so I can't go anywhere too expensive.

Lived there up till 12 years ago, so not recent
it is good position for commuting- good connections. Reading and Basingstoke close by, and easy into London l we bought as at the time it was way cheaper than other M4 corridor towns further in to london.
At time we lived there , there was very little going on in village except through schools/nursery which was great…a lovely network. But as childless I think you’d struggle to find anything in village and you’d need to travel. Even healthcare at time needed a car to get to swallow field. Bus services ok into reading, but we’d use park and ride into reading to get into london (rail) or the town. Reading is fine..enough going on, and Basingstoke not too bad either.
there is nice countryside around just into Hampshire at border with berks. Good for cycling, walking etc.,plenty of peaceful spots to go to.
crime at time was low, safe village…but definitely a commuter village.
I liked it..suited our needs at time. Kids have fond memories

Aww, thank you so much!

I drive and I like it so it shouldn't be a problem, as long as I don't need to drive for ages if I want to meet people.

I currently live in a village as well, just outside of London.

Right now the most important thing for me is to move out and find a nice house/flat (for the budget I have). Was Looking at Woodley (didn't see any flats for me there) and Wokingham as well but just thinking that if I need to get to London, Wokingham might not be the best location.
