If you have a garden where you have to follow the sun round throughout the day

How many seating areas and sets of furniture do you have? Or do you move the furniture with you?

I think we could do with three but worried it'll look ridiculous.

How big is your garden? Ours is about 80ft and south facing but narrow so we have a main seating area at the back of the house which gets sun for most of the day and a bench at the end of the garden to catch the last of the evening sun. Three would be overkill for us but might work for you.

I have a couple of designated areas with furniture that stays put (one area has a table and chairs and another area has a bench).

I also have some deck chairs and a little folding table that I can easily move if I want to.

Depending on the space you have, I'd think about using different areas for different things, which will minimise the 'duplicate furniture' effect. A table and chairs for eating meals al fresco in one spot, a bench for an evening G&T in another, a hammock for reading a book, a bistro set for breakfast or a cuppa... etc.
