Should a new shower ideally be fitted exactly level?

Hoping you might see this @PigletJohn Grin

I've just had a new exposed shower valve fitted which has hot & cold inlets horizontally. The first thing I noticed on seeing the competed work was that the fitting is 5mm off horizontal, so it looks wonky. For the money I'm paying I would expect it to be perfectly level but am I being unreasonable? I can see that rectifying this will mean cutting new tiles behind as screw holes will have to be changed. But surely getting your fittings straight should be a basic plumbing requirement. All pipework was made new so it's not an issue of existing supply pipes being unlevel.

You are not being unreasonable. It is reasonable to expect the shower mixer to be level on the wall!

Yes. Sounds like a poor job.

That would drive me mad. Doubt it will affect functionality but it should be level!

PigletJohn · 23/05/2022 09:39

It will work but is a shoddy job and you should point it out to the installer

I wonder what other shoddy work s/he has done.

He's adjusted it as far as he can now so it's only 3mm out. This sounds nuts written down, but I can see it. Although it's better than it was. I feel nervous about putting my foot down again & saying can you please start over & make it perfect...

Ask them if they mind being payed a few hundred quid out of level. I mean it's near as damn it, right!? See how they feel when the tables are turned.
