Belfast sink

Hello, I need a little bit of advice.
Currently thinking about redoing the whole kitchen and part of that would be a belfast sink- but is it actually practical? I mean for washing dishes in it, isn't gonna chip or crack soon or later?
I always wanted one, but now facing the dilemma.:(

I always wanted one and have one in my current house -it’s a nightmare to keep clean and we have to have a smaller washing up bowl inside it as it’s so massive. It does look nice when it’s clean though

I have one & yes it’s too deep. However just spotted a shallow version at ikea which looked really smart. Rangemaster also do one.

It's not too massive and it doesn't crack. You'll love it!

I have a RAK double belfast. We have a dishwasher so only use this from kids drinks bottles and plates. But honestly the look of it everytime I go in the kitchen makes me smile and 1st thing ppl comment on xx

Ours is huge, beautiful and I spend all my time cleaning it. Won’t have one this size again!

We have one, it's awesome. I use one of those mat things in the base to stop it getting scratched up. Takes zero effort to clean.

In my experience: nightmare to keep clean. They can chip and crack. They are unforgiving when you knock glasses etc against them.

Lacedwithgrace · 20/05/2022 22:33

Use a scrub daddy to clean them, use a plastic bowl inside the sink for washing up. The sink won't crack but crockery does when dropped with slippy hands.

I have one, and have had it for 20 years, and tbh it is just a sink. It looks nice, and no more inconvenient than a normal sink

I love mine - everything fits in it (ncluding toddlers coming in muddy from the garden). The best thing I did though was to have quite a high arched tap so that even the biggest/tallest pan can be put in the sink to soak and the tallest vases of flowers go under the tap to be filled with water.
