Induction hob help

Hi
I'm planning to move to induction after always having a gas hob. However I'm finding it a bit of a minefield.
Should I go for zones rather than rings? Are they more flexible on pan size,? Can they merge for bigger pans? Someone told me that their pans didn't work if they were much smaller then the ring so I'm now paranoid it'll all be a faff.
Can anyone share their experience and offer advice or guidance?
Thanks

I have an induction hob after always for donkey's years having gas. Mine are side by side rather in in a square - individual hobs not zone . Pans work - on mine - even if the little circle is smaller or bigger than pan but they work very nicely & heat up as well as gas - Oh and so much easier to clean . The worst thing I had was some lovely pans didn't work on induction so they have gone. but although I was reluctant at first I would buy an induction hob again. Can't give you advice on zone hobs but my side by side ( Siemens ) every little hob circle works no matter pan size ( obviously the bigger hob things heat up quicker. ) So that is my experience - I thought it looked like cooking on an iPad but after 8 years it has done its job wonderfully & still going.

Hope that helps somewhat - all best with decision 😀
