Not so keen on this converted schoolhouse but you get a lot of house for your money. Close to Brigg which is a lovely market town.

Oh my goodness that is identical to my current home! For disclosure my DH is in the military and we live in a married quarter and the house OP has linked to is an ex-quarter. I adore my current home but it has remained largely unrenovated since the mid-80s and so the kitchen is tiny for the property size and all the cupboards are falling off the walls. The bathrooms were last redone in the 70s and are avocado or champagne coloured. Ours still has the original attached 1930s garage, which has been turned into the games room in the rightmove house. That fireplace is original as is ours, but we still have an open fire not a log burner. On the plus side ours still has the original doors, with brass handles and fingerplates. Ours also has the original picture rails, curved corners on the interior walls and the servants bells linked to a board in the kitchen with the rooms listed on it - if you ring a bell a counter flips next to the relevant room name. Sadly no servants.

OP - sorry to hijack your post with a different place, I’ll stop now 😀

That is spectacular there isn't one thing I'd change about it, if the seller could leave all the furniture that would be great too.

Searchingsound · 12/05/2022 16:42

It’s depressing. The pub room called ‘the gym’ and the mural of famous rockstars (all men) tells me all I need to know to not want to live in a rural location nr Grimsby!

Footgoose · 12/05/2022 20:50

I’m loving seeing other peoples posts of great houses in affordable areas.

It's Grimsby, though.

TizerorFizz · 13/05/2022 00:22

Grimsby in the south OP? It’s cheap for a reason………

Footgoose · 13/05/2022 06:25

@boonducks . Lovely house. Great area. Winteringham’s Michalain starred restaurant not far away from this one.

People saying it’s in the middle of nowhere like it’s a bad thing and it isn’t (there are super close neighbours). Lots of things to like about it, a 3 bed detached house in our village (with similar views) was just listed at at £625k and needs a lot of work (kitchen circa 40 years old).

picklemewalnuts · 13/05/2022 07:14

Could you clever lot find me something lovely in S wales? I want something without many neighbours, or a plot big enough that neighbours don't matter!
I've had 25 years in new builds, and I want some space!

ComtesseDeSpair · 13/05/2022 11:59

The house is lovely but I’ve been to the area. I can’t believe anybody would pay as much as that to live there. Would perhaps work if you weren’t intending to go beyond your garden gate very much.

I'm mainly disapointed that there aren't actually bookshelves on the mezzanine level, just bookcase wallpaper 😱

There are lots of big houses round here (NE) for that price but all seem to have eccentricities you'd need to sort out.

Trafficjamlog · 13/05/2022 20:21

The problem is the location. Nothing on this earth would convince me to move to Grimsby, the reason places are generally more expensive is because the areas are nicer and have more to offer. I would be miserable thete and will stick to my lovely little cottage I paid a lot more than £600k for because I much prefer the location

Ireolu · 13/05/2022 21:24

Our house is less than half of the size and more expensive...

Odessafile · 13/05/2022 22:50

Still can't afford it.

CanadianJohn · 14/05/2022 01:49

It's a nice house, OP, but Grimsby is pretty grim. The good thing is, it's only 35 miles from Scunthorpe.😁
