With a twist. We owe him money still. We have paid him 2/3 of the labour costs for our kitchen, it is 90 percent finished. He said he’d finished when we were on holiday, we got back and there was a huge snagging list. This was7 months ago! It’s driving me mad, I can’t get him back to finish as he has clearly started a new job. The longer it goes on, the more things I find wrong, cupboard doors slightly wonky, one light flickers, one bit of skirting board missing etc. All too small to get someone else out to finish. I’m so cross at not loving my kitchen I don’t want to pay him any more anyway now! But I hate owing money too! What would you do?

Write a letter or email stating you will wait 28 days from the date and after that you will terminate the contract and get someone else to fix it.
Then you can use the money for that, and send any remaining money after that to the original contractor for completion.

I had this years ago. Think they never came back as it would cost them more to fix than what you owe!

Well it is over 2k we still owe him. So a fair whack. All the jobs probably would be no more than a few hundred but it is hard to get people to quote for big jobs, let alone finishing off other peoples!

I would forget about him and just post this as a separate job on mybuilder.com.
then choose someone with best reviews and a lot of reviews. I know people tend not to trust these websites, but when we moved into our house, we had LOTS of little jobs like this so mybuilder literally saved our lives. We had a very good experience most of the time, and sometimes just okay, but never a bad one.
