Carbon Monoxide alarms

Our chimney sweep has told me that CO2 monitors have a 7 year life and should be replaced after that.
I suspect mine is older, can't remember, but it still beeps when tested.
Googled and lots have a 7 year warranty but I can't find anything that says you should replace them.

Our CO2 monitors intermittently beep when they have reached the end of their lifespan. I think this is normal and they all do it?

The cell that detects the carbon monoxide starts to fail around this age, you wouldn't know, they don't bleep to tell you.

Just replace. £20 is worth it to keep you and your loved ones alive.

Mine have a date of expiry on the reverse. I write the date purchased next it. I can say that ALL of ours have died noisy deaths at around the five year mark. (This is 20 years of owning the things) They just start to beep at anything and refuse to stop until silenced permanently.
I have three, all different makes and bought at different times, so have been able to absolutely sure that it is old age failure and not a detection (for real ) alert. I just replace them with a new one.

My last one started bleeping in a particular way at that point to indicate it had reached the end of its life. It was so annoying you couldn't ignore it 😆

I guess he's right then. Built in obsolecense.
I have one in the bedroom where the chimney is so will need two.
I haven't used my stove for years (hate the thing) but may need to resurrect it next winter due to oil/ electricity costs.
