Hello we are looking at moving to this area. We have seen some property we like but behind the back garden is the train line into town. i'm a Londoner so used to noise & being overlooked. I like the fact these houses don't have properties at the back but how bad is the noise? Thankfs

At the moment, on the Ewell side of Epsom, there are two trains per hour in each direction, so that’s four an hour, through Ewell West. Pre lockdown there were double that. Chris Grayling, local MP, is trying to get the frequency back to that level. On the south side of Epsom station there are more trains because there’s the line from Guildford coming through.

However, you may be talking about the line through Ewell East. I’m not sure of the frequency of those trains.
can you post a link to the house?

Thank for that. The road is Ardrossan Gardens if that helps

So that’s 4 trains an hour, possibly increasing to 8. It’s away from Stoneleigh and Worcester Park stations so you won’t hear the acceleration/deceleration noises.

Is it the acceleration/deceleration that's the noisiest bit then? How disruptive do you think 8 trains an hour would be?

You hear the air brakes when they stop. Why don’t you go to Stoneleigh station and sit there for an hour? It will give you some idea of 8 trains an hour. It might bother some people, or it might not.
if you ask the neighbours, they’ll probably say that they don’t notice them.

Yes that's a good idea, thank you
