Any ideas what could be causing it. The floor underneath is damp. and it does seem to be a bit positional, if I shift my weight it stops. Hopefully it won't be to costly to fix 😬

What kind of toilet is it? We've had a similar issue with one where there's a pipe from the cistern to the pan - it leaks where it enters the cistern. It could be the seal has gone or isn't correctly fitted.

Post some photos of the cistern please, inside and out, underneath and sides. How old is it?

Quite likely it will be one of the pipes going into the bottom.

If you are unlucky it will be the joint where the cistern connects to the back of the pan.

If you are very unlucky the cistern will be hidden in the wall, and if you are very very unlucky it will be tiled over to maximise difficulty.

I've been getting to post all day. Mumsnet won't let me. I'll try again. The cistern lid does not come off. The toilet is at least 13 years old. The house is 30 years old. But it's not the original suite.

No photos then?

Trying to post photos, but it won't let me!

Try saving your photos to something like Imgur then posting a link instead.

Lay a layer toilet paper round the bowl on the floor, and under the cistern and it will show which bit wets first.

We had this happen and it was the pipe at the back leaking. It was the weight of sitting on the toilet that was pulling it out slightly causing it to drip (it had only just been fitted and hadn't been done properly!) Can you feel around the back of the toilet or can't you access it?

Toddlerteaplease · 27/04/2022 13:47

Apparently it's the inlet valve. Plumber has gone to get a new one.

but there must be a leak as well.

Toddlerteaplease · 27/04/2022 15:10

The leak was on the inlet valve.cost £102. So not too horrendous.

I did this. Still could t work it out. It only cost £102 to fix. Phew! Not to painful
