Expensive products on display when selling home?

We’re soon going to put our property on the market. Talking to one agent last week (their company sells properties of a certain style/vintage) I was surprised when they said they encourage owners to put expensive liquid soaps (ie not bog standard Carex!) and so on on display in the bathrooms etc. And good quality bedding. I was a bit surprised as when we’ve previously bought I didn’t notice stuff like this (but then we were looking at some quite run down houses). Is it important? Like having the stunt pineapple 😀?

It is a large house in an expensive county (now -- it wasn't when we moved in), and we are planning to downsize for our retirement @evilharpy.

My friend did this, styled it beautifully, new towels that no one was allowed to use, fresh flowers in a vase, nice soap - garden done beautifully. It worked.

It’s definitely a thing. I’ve started playing ‘spot the Fortnum’s hamper strategically placed as decor’ on Rightmove!

Ooooh shame we gave away our fortnum’s empty hamper basket! Funny the mention of a certain brand as one said they sometimes come round with empty bottles of it to place beside the sink 😂
