Horrible isn’t it! The expert is basically saying ‘Look at what bad taste you have, look how poor you are’.

Well, thank goodness our washing machine is in the damp, windowless storeroom next to the kitchen, along with the freezer, where cobwebs hang from the ceiling and the plaster slowly crumbles off the walls. I'd hate to be common!

I agree that the panelling would look horrifically silly in many houses.

i used to live in a 1930s semi with a full on wood panelled hall. I think it was teak. But it was original to the house. (And for added ‘cheap’ points, I was renting it so I can no control over that or the magnolia walls).
