Pondering extension to existing house to create a bigger kitchen with a separate "snug" behind it that overlooks our garden. Is 2.9m by 2.6 ok for what is essentially a room for a sofa with a chaise thing? Two walls would be mostly glass/sliding door and large picture window.

I guess the question is how much it will be used and whether it's worth the extra cost...? I like the idea of a snug, I'd love to turn it into a reading corner maybe. But more likely it would end up being a gaming hub...😁

I think it depends if you have enough wall space for your furniture. Have you done a scale drawing including the furniture? Or tried to lay it out in an existing room? We are also looking at creating a little tv room which will only be a tiny bit bigger than your proposed space (3m x 3.5) but we will only have a single door in the middle of the longer wall and a regular window on the shorter wall. I’ve done scale drawings of room and furniture to make sure it will all fit and it’s quite ‘snug’ but doable.

It would be used every day. We have an open plan lounge/diner going on and no actual closed off rooms. At the moment, I sit in our bedroom if I need some space but that feels too "bedtime" y, if that makes any sense?

Ours is probably a bit tight because we are using existing furniture. If I had the budget to buy new/smaller scale it would be better.

It would literally be a sofa, cushions, small side table and something like this fitted in somewhere... where DO people put this stuff???

I'd say it's too small for a sofa with a chaise. A couple of chairs might be ok but we have a small sofa in a room that's 2.58m x 3.89m and it feels quite tight tbh. I certainly wouldn't want a chaise with a TV opposite in there.

We've just extended and have a little room that I suppose you could call a snug. It's 2.3m wide by 3.1m long. I think it feels bigger because it has a vaulted ceiling with a helix and one short wall is mostly glass.

It has a sofa along one of the long walls and TV opposite (on the wall). I have a pull down / wall desk on one of the short walls. We don't have anything else in there (wall lights etc so don't have lamp tables etc), and it doesn't feel tight. Everyone fights to sit in there 😀

Ours would have two mostly glass sides, looking out on the garden. Just a sofa with a cupboard against the wall feels doable. With the light that end of the house gets, it should be a nice little nook.
