Find somewhere else to rent if at all possible, damp is extremely bad for your health.

Shit, i really feel for you, i lived in a damp house in Ireland, DP has asthma which became really bad and he was getting constant chest infections, having to take steriods etc.

Luckily for us we were able to move home to Scotland just after my DS was born. Dp hardly even has to use an Inhaler these days.

Maybe speak to Citizens advice, local councillor, MP, Newspapers??

There are definately ways to treat damp, it is not acceptable for you and your family to be living like this, where abouts are you out of interest?

We used to live in Cornwall, and found we needed a dehumdifier on all the time... the house wasn't damp - just the air was!

But it sounds like your house needs treating - downstairs there can be problems if the base of the house can't 'breathe' eg if something has been built around the house, like a terrace or something.

Definitely in the landlord's court though... and the AGA not working is their problem, if it was part of the house when you rented it.

moljam · 10/01/2008 20:45

theyve said theyll fix aga-no mention of when-another winter without it.but it only heats dining room-no radiators or water coming off it.so for amount of dust in air to heat one room seems bit silly.

Yup - not much use having an aga outside the kitchen . When you say dust.. is it solid fuel then? They do make lovely bum warmers though...

moljam · 10/01/2008 21:15

yep bum warmer-solid fuel.it is lovely when it works but only when we all move into dining room for winter.we used to have sitting room in there when it worked.
