how often do you redecorate your house

Moved into a new place and had it all repainted in the summer. Honestly the hallway and living room look like they need painting already. Do have a pre schooler but still. How often does everyone else repaint their living rooms and other bits of the house?

When it needs it and not before! Lived in our last house in France for 16 years. It was painted white all through when we moved in and still looked fine 16 years later. To be fair, no toddlers and the section of wall where I fell asleep holding a glass of red wine and managed to flick the glass getting it all up the wall had to be gone over....

Only when it visibly needs doing. I hate painting woodwork.

As and when required. I did a bedroom and the dining room 2 years ago, and the kitchen 3 years ago. They still look like they have been freshly painted. DD's bedroom was done 6 years ago and still looks freshly done. The other rooms were done about 15 years ago, and could probably do with a refresh.

No small children or pets here.

About 8 years. But there are only 2 of us so no one to wreck the place

Yes, I think we probably should have gone for washable paint. My pre-schooler threw a whole cup of coffee at the wall, which prompted my post. But in general F&B paint is really not very resilient and just comes off if washed.

It’s been 7 years and we are getting our exteriors done - will work on internals once we’ve done a bit of remodelling (also getting new windows etc so will wait for those to go in).

I tried to clean the kitchen walls with a damp sponge and and now have black smears all over them , must be from all the candles we have 😁

When we moved in we gutted the living/dining room and didn’t redecorate for 14years!
I decorated the hallway nearly 3 years ago and I’m planning on repainting it shortly.

If your walls are white then after you have used magic eraser/wiped the walls down a few times just repaint individual walls not the entire room.

I've done my entire hall fully twice in 10 years but did one wall once in between that.
