This is our new kitchen . Floor is Dark - Noble Oak Amtico parquet . The work surfaces are a bright but not white .
we have chosen stone grey and ink blue ( indigo) cupboards . Our first thoughts were tall cupboards in indigo ( the 4 tall cupboards will house the fridge freezer / coffee machine and 2 ovens) . Then the lighter stone grey for the rest of the kitchen .
now I’m concerned it will look a bit “blocky” rather than blended.

please can I have your advice opinions on how you would segregate / blend these chosen colours.

DH and I going around in circles . 🤦‍♀️

As you have the tall cupboards are right next to the lower cupboards I think it will look blocky. I don’t think the kitchen is big enough for two colours and the indigo will be overbearing and look like a dark slab, especially with side by side appliances. I would have it all light with the dark floor.

I have a second colour on a very big island in a big kitchen with a light floor. You can use a darker colour for walls if you want a contrast. Keep it simple and it looks better in a smaller space.

I’d keep one colour as well. Either colour would
work I think given you’ve got light surfaces.

Thanks . The whole room is actually much bigger . It’s an L shape with the kitchen at the top end of the L then a gap with a door and the utility at the other end , the room then branched into the L shape which is a double hight sun room with huge windows on 3 sides . I thought one colour in the dark might look too much but all one light colour look a bit to safe . I will think about dark wall colour instead . Tiling isn’t an option at this stage but maybe I’ll tile later .

Yes, I also think the kitchen is too small for two colours, the tight L-shape really closes it off. I would definitely go for the light colour as the ceilings are low and looks quite dark even with the lights on. I also think the light colour is less likely to date.

Is it just kitchen doors you are debating over? What would be the price of changing them if you change your mind?

If it is not too much, I would just go with what you want and see how it feels.

It is your kitchen and it will be fine. Most people have one colour but there really is no rule. Personally I might choose one whole area in one colour and the rest in another, but again - your way might look nicer!

But also painting it in a dark colour would also be good.
