Cannot sit in my lounge for five minutes without someone looking in front window :(

I moved house around six months ago, and the place is nice, only it's on a residential road but with high pedestrIan traffic. But I swear, I cannot sit in my lounge five minutes without someone peering in. It boggles the mind. Why are people so nosey? And what gets me is that even if they realise that you see them, they keep looking as they walk past. I don't know, but if it were me walking, I wouldn't make habit to look inside someone's front window, and if I did, and I could see that the person was looking at me, I would quickly look away. But that's just me. I guess some people have no manners. Feel like putting up a giant cut out of a hand flipping people off. That would give them something to look at. I'll probably get net curtains now cos I'm that fed up with it.

I have day and night blinds
Kitchen window is on a pavement and the delightful teenagers like to bang on it/throw bricks etc so anything to stop them seeing in

You could try some cafe curtains, or maybe some faded cardboard dayglo stars stuck up with blutack.

Perhaps also set some limits on the film crew's hours of access.

Also check you haven't left a blackboard outside with a big list of food on it.

We have the film on our windows as I would hate it.

However if someone hadn't got film/curtains I assume they dont mind. If they waved I'd assume theyre being friendly and wave back 😳.

If there's something unusual I'd definitely look! (Not a horse!? ;) )

Another vote for privacy film . Our house is on the school run so we get a lot of traffic twice a day .

Neither a horse nor a cycle!
(an instrument).

I don't mind glances in, but they are full length windows that are hard to cover and I like looking out, too, but it's the stares, or the people that call others to come look, and just the total lack of embarrassment that kind of surprises me. Mostly I do just put the normal blinds down when I get tired of it, but in the day it's nice to have the light and to look out, too, as it's a very small flat that can seem oppressive otherwise.

This is one of the things I look at in a house and it would be a deal breaker for me, no way would I want a house that fronts (or nearly fronts) onto a path.

Recently moved into a newbuild and deliberately chose a plot on a long driveway away from footpaths.
One style of house we quite liked is ALWAYS put on a corner and with big picture windows on both aspects there is a definite lack of privacy. Most people have fitted wooden blinds (Venetian or shutter) and leave them closed which makes the windows pointless.

This is what net curtains and similar are for.
It’s also the reason that net curtains are considered “common” and looked down on by some, as their use indicated that one lived in cheaper housing with no front garden. Personally I like the diffused light net curtains give, and the twitching opportunities they provide.
