Cost/time of redoing kitchen without moving any appliances

Hello, we like the layout of our current kitchen, but it's dated and we'd like to redo it. If we're just replacing units and appliances without moving anything, do we need a plumber or electrician, or just a kitchen fitter? Would we need a plasterer? How long roughly does it take to take out and refit a kitchen? And how much might it cost for new units in a 3m x 3m kitchen? Thank you!

A plumber probably not needed as any general builder would be able to put in a new sink etc if you're not moving anything about. Electrician depends on what you're replacing, for instance if you're having an induction hob fitted and didn't have one before, then to get a decent output one needs its own dedicated power supply.
Plasterer depends on how destructive the removal is likely to be, e.g. tiled walls off and replaced with painted surface would need someone in.
Your best bet is to find a good local general builder from recommendations (who will usually have trade pricing with kitchen cos) and get them to cost it up. Materials and availability of trades are still an issue.
Price will depend on number of cabinets, if you need new appliances, and what finish you want, could be anything from £4-5k upwards depending on what you want.
Ripping out our 1970s kitchen took 2-3 days pre covid, first fit electricians was a day, then lockdown, plaster shortages etc etc meant it took ages to get finished, but hopefully you'd be able to get done in 3 ish weeks if your trades are on the ball.

Thanks @comeundone that's really helpful.

Anyone else had a kitchen redone lately that can share costs and rough timings? Thank you!

I replaced like for like on my kitchen this month. Diy kitchens was £1700 for sink, cupboards and handles, laminate wooden effect sideboard. Kitchen was 3.9 x1.7m I've put a pic on to show size. Builder charged £1400 to rip out and refit. £60 for tiles, £300 for tiler (should have been less though, think I was a bit ripped off there). Paint £60, decorator £110. Electrician £50, new light fitting £40. Flooring is tile effect laminate £160, put over old tiles again to save money- £80 for fitting. I saved money on a skip by taking old kitchen to the tip in my car (7 seater, took 1 trip).
North west England prices. Builder organised all the other trades.

Timing wise, well... don't get me started on that! Builder was like "oh it's just a days job, love". Yeah well. It's been a month. What he didn't say was, "oh it's just a days job, love, but we will come for an hour twice a week til it's finished" Confused. It was mostly finished by the end of the 2nd week, but getting him to come to finish off snagging and other small jobs (still waiting for plug sockets to be put back for example!) has been like pulling teeth.

Hi op,

Did you end up doing this? I've just put up a post asking to get something similar done. Just moved into a house and looks like part of the kitchen needs replacing as well!

If you did, what did it cost you and how long did it take?

Thanks,
