How difficult is it to remove and fill in a door?

We've just had our pre-exchange viewing of a house we're buying and it came up with something we weren't expecting...

As some of the vendors furniture is gone, we've noticed that a door was behind a wardrobe when we viewed and isn't on any paperwork / survey / etc

We've seen another properties in this road, and the door is what was a cupboard door, as the house has a knocked through two cupboards to become an office space. (which was one of the appeals of the house)

The wall is covered in office room with wallpaper so we thought the door had been removed. It now seems that the door is still there...

My question is - how easy / difficult is it to remove a door / doorframe and then fill in?

We're planning on having the rooms replastered as it's 20+ year old wallpaper anyway throughout the house so while it's unexpected (and not ideal) it hopefully won't cause any major issues with our renovation plans.

Has anyone removed and filled in a doorway, and can share experience?

It's a smallish job. Just needs making good as they say.

We took the opportunity to put a round window in ours to let light into a corridor. Also put a socket under the new window both sides as it was easy and no wall to be chased out

Might it be a good place for a shoe cupboard or to site a safe? There's extra space there - perhaps you can make use of it somehow.

If not a piece of plasterboard and plaster over.

Not a big deal at all. My husband (reasonably competent DIYer) moved our bathroom door in a previous house by blocking up old door and making an opening further up the wall. Took a day.

It's an easy enough job. The structure is already there so you just have to remove the door and architrave, stud out the opening then player and paint it.

*plaster and paint it.

Easy job for a professional.

Thank you.
We're not experienced, but fairly practical and so feels within our remit.

Glad it's not anthting more sinister that's a surprise (tho there's still time)
