Heating one room

Does anyone know of a cheap way to heat one room? I have a family member who needs the house to be 17 or 18 at night. Electric blankets etc won't solve the problem, the air needs to be normal day temperature. The rest of the house is unaffected, and the heating comes on the next morning anyway.

Keeping the central heating on in all the rooms seems to be least financially sensible option, logically, but I have no idea. The house has 4 bedrooms.

The internet isn't very useful to solve this problem. I'd be interested to hear from anyone who knows the answer to this. Thanks

Thermostatic valves on all rads would allow you to turn all the others off but they might not have them and it would be a pain.

I would go for an electric plug in radiator.

Thank you. They do have them, but I agree it would be a pain. I think I'm the o my person who might remember. I did wonder about an electric radiator but has it suggested to me it wouldn't save money. I'm on British Gas, and was transferred there in the government scheme from a collapsed gas company, but I haven't switched or fixed since.

An oil filled radiator might be better - they are more efficient than pure electric one. Out of interest why?

We've used oil filled radiators before and found them great, portable and easy on/off. You do need to be able to close the room door of course otherwise all the heat will escape

A smart heating system where you can control radiators individually but it would be expensive initially.

Is money an issue? Are you doing this from a cost saving necessity? Because you can get smart radiator valves which you can set routines on

Thank you. A health reason.

It's a cost saving desirability I suppose. Our gas /electricity bill was over £300 this month. £200 was gas. It seems sensible to be able to do what most people do, and be able to turn off the heating at night in most room.
