Best sofa for getting round awkward corners and narrow halls

The sofa I bought didn't fit through my front door earlier this week, let alone round a tight corner to my living room. Do you have a recommendation for a sofa that is comfy, good looking and delivered parts and/or manouvreable? Would love your advice. Thanks!

I think recliner sofas usually come in parts - ours definitely did .

Can you get it through a window? We did that.

IKEA has sofas that come in parts.

We ended up with an IKEA sofa. I'm not the biggest fan but we adopted a VERY muddy dog shortly after so actually it was for the best. The washable covers are the best feature. I don't like that the chaise longue kind of slopes down towards the back so you find yourself crawling off of it like some kind of crooked thing.

I was not keen on the idea of an ikea sofa at first, but now I have one and I really love it. It comes in pieces that you slot together yourself. Very easy and it's really comfortable.

I’ve got a Parker Knoll sofa which goes into 3 parts.

There are several companies that sell sofas that come boxed for assembly. Have a Google. They look like decent comfy upholstered sofas too, not all wood slats and screws. We have got a downstairs room (currently a study) that is so awkwardly situated I had to chop the legs off a table to get it in there - then I glued them back on after! I have looked at these sofas for that room.

IKEA definitely - with plus factor of removable covers

Sofa.com do sofas that come in parts.

TheCanyon · 08/04/2022 13:34

Nabru also do flat pack sofas. I bloody love mine.

I second sofa.com who do lovely breakdownable sofas. Customer service and delivery/assembly couldn't be faulted.

My Mom has just got a quote from a local glazed to take out a very large porch window and put it back in later that day, so she can get a sofa in (and the old one out). It was only £100, so that might still be an option and keep you with budget (if size of sofa were no longer a consideration)

I was going to suggest Nabru too. Ours is still going strong 8 years. Came in wooden panels that we then put together for the base

We have a swyft sofabed (they do regular sofas too) it comes in boxes and you put it together (very very easy - no tools required)
100day trial (you have to keep the boxes though or pay a re boxing fee)
We really like it
It's very smart and comfy both as a bed and a sofa. It's very modern looking but way more comfy than you'd think it would be, it's now everyone's favourite sofa in the house and although it's supposed to be mine (in my studio) I keep finding DH & the boys on it 😖

Summersdreaming · 08/04/2022 17:51

We nearly had to take the glass out of the window, would that be an option? It shouldn't be too expensive vs a new sofa.

Anglophobia · 08/04/2022 17:57

Hackney sofa from Hay - designed for flats!

lashy · 08/04/2022 23:05

Sofa.com have a nice variety of sofas which come as either whole or can 'break down' exactly for this reason.
The latter costing a few hundred pounds more.
Less expensive than purchasing a sofa that will not fit through the door and subsequently has to be sold at a loss of course.

Beebumble2 · 08/04/2022 23:11

We had the same problem, ended up with a DFS sofa that the arms and legs were removable. 6 years on still comfortable and looks like new.

Neverreturntoathread · 08/04/2022 23:15

Ikea sofas come in parts and the Gronlid is sooooo comfortable! Very underpriced 😃

Nothappyatwork · 08/04/2022 23:16

I bought one snug cloud sofa and loved it so much ive bought another. Literally flat packed

Haus1234 · 09/04/2022 11:55

The Loaf website has sheets for each sofa with how big your door has to be etc in order for delivery to be possible. We got a Boho which is apparently one of the most manoeuvrable.
