Hi

Anyone have a marble kitchen worktop with a polished or honed finish? Why did you choose either and would you still recommend (or not?)

Thanks!

I had one. Chose it because it was pretty.

Marble is too soft to make a good kitchen work surface. It's fragile and high maintenance.

But pretty.

Thanks was it honed or polished marble?

Polished. Honed is even prettier but even more fragile, i was told.

Actually I made a mistake the worktop is quartz! Called ‘statutory extra’? Is quartz more hard wearing?

Quartz is completely different to marble. It’s a man made material and is stronger and less prone to marking than marble.

It’s a myth however that you can’t stain or chip/ scratch it, you absolutely can do need that in mind when picking colours etc

You could look at granite worktops too.
