Just that. I want a nice front door. I googled and there is too much choice, so I would appreciate if you shared where you got yours from.

Thank youBiscuit

We are having ours made by a local carpenter/joinery company. The surround of our front door is oak, so we wanted something to match and couldnt find anything in main stream shops.

We also had ours made by a local firm. It is wider than normal and we wanted it half glass as it was too dark in the hall.

Reluctantadult · 31/03/2022 16:04

A local company.

We just got a new composite door from Safestyle. Probably more money than local places but we can't complain at all - absolutely love it and the whole process (including 3 new windows) took 4 weeks from getting the initial quote to having the work completed.

Banham. Pain if you get locked out though since supposedly only their locksmiths can get you back in.

Got a lovely composite Solidor. Brass Locket knocker from another company.

I bought a beautiful wooden door from B and Q. Got a local joiner to fit it and replace the surround in solid oak. I love it.

They do composite doors too

themessygarden · 31/03/2022 16:41

We got our from Urban Fronts.

20viona · 31/03/2022 16:52

Solidor online it's really easy to design your own and then a local fitter to fit it.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 31/03/2022 16:56

Mine came free with the house but it’s ghastly. Fake UPVC.

I want a purple wooden one.

georgedawes · 31/03/2022 16:57

Can anyone say how much they paid for their door? We've been quoted a huge amount for one, and no idea if it's reasonable or not!

Scarby9 · 31/03/2022 17:00

B& Q.
Wooden and a bit drafty, but I like the glazing.

Ours cost £3000, but we have a top light and two half panels which bumped the cost up. Got several quotes and they were all much the same.

do not be tempted to paint it. Even if the tin of paint says it works. Bitter voice of experience here.

I paid £1,200 for the door, new oak surround, all new brass fittings and a good joiner but that was 3 years ago. Its very similar to this door www.diy.com/departments/4-panel-diamond-bevel-glazed-raised-moulding-white-oak-veneer-lh-rh-external-front-door-h-2032mm-w-813mm/964563_BQ.prd

We purchased our front door through a local window company (via our builder).

We went for a sage green traditional looking composite door with side lights/window panes on each side. Also had a door knocker with spy glass installed.

Cost me £1,200 in total. The builder doing our renovation works at the time had arranged for all of this and fitted it in.

Hi OP, when doing our extension/refurb we ripped out the 90's UPVC one we'd inherited and replaced it with a 1930s oak door from eBay. It had been stripped and windows removed. We got a local stained glass artist to make new stained glass to our specs and install it.

The door was £250 including courier delivery to the stained glass guy's workshop. Stained glass was £500 made and fitted, he also delivered the door to our house for free as just up the road. The joiners we were already using for the refurb made the oak door frame for us - the dimensions were almost perfect though. The frame/installation was a day of their time, £150.

It's not the peak of energy-efficiency and we pull a curtain over in on winter nights! But it's absolutely beautiful and completely bespoke and I couldn't imagine loving a front door more :) so I think we got a bargain!

AuntieDolly · 31/03/2022 17:16

I've recently paid £2k for a solidor door with half lights. If you're looking for composite they all pretty much do the same styles and colours

Queenie72 · 31/03/2022 17:51

we bought ours from Todds Doors they were really good.

Hebeee · 31/03/2022 18:07

It was free....from a house refurb DH was working on. The owners (more money than sense 🙄) were planning to put it on the bonfire!

We've not fitted it yet as it will go on our porch once we've extended it, but is hardwood, arts & crafts/cottage style....reminds me of one we had at a previous house.

Currently we have a (bright pink) Victorian timber door dating from when the building (an old mill) was converted to a house 100+ years ago.
