OK, long story short. Yesterday chain 3 of 3 collapsed and or vendor has nowhere to go. We broke the chain back in late June to allow our buyer to make the stamp duty holiday, been renting our old house back since then. LL now done about turn on us renting till we complete and has served a section 21. We have to be out by the end of April

It was all looking good for us to move to our new home by then. But now it is not. Starting to think we have no option but to go into rented accommodation. TBH this is not good news. Anyone else done this and have any tips? Is it difficult to get a let of 6 months or less? Really don't want to be tied to paying rent for 12 months when we may only need a few weeks. Help.

When was the section 21 served? You should have been given at least 2 months notice. If they had to evict you it would take 6-12 months.

Going into rental you can ask for 6 month break clause but don’t give the real reason.

The section 21 is a bit dodgy so technically, yes I could take her down to the wire (I don't have a copy of my signed tenancy agreement or the 'How to Rent' booklet and since I sold the house to her in the first place she never provided the EPC).

She's a bit volatile though and has already served one definitely not legal section 21 (which we politely ignored) and has a history of multiple emails per week etc. TBH I need to get away as the whole situation is affecting my mental stability.

Have reached the point where just moving on would be a good thing all round. Good point about the 6 month break clause and not giving the reason why. Reckon we could swallow paying for six months.

You can get a 12 months lease with a 6 month break clause or you could look into a long term air b n b. We moved into rented and whilst it has been so expensive and a bit strange it was the best thing I did.
