Requesting a viewing when not yet proceedable?

Just that really. Considering moving and confident we could sell quickly because like lots of places, demand is high and supply is low. We ended up selling our last place before our house was ready so had to rent in between. As a couple that was fine, but with 2 toddlers I don’t want to do that.

Is there any point requesting to view a property when we are not yet proceedable? There is an open day on Easter Sat.

We did a viewing today (second viewing, actually). We've not started the selling process, but it will go in a week when we do. So I say go for it.

In my experience and I have moved a lot...estate agents will not allow viewings unless you are proceedable. Personally I have only taken viewings from people whose properties have sold. May differ from area to area possibly so no harm in asking.

It differs between vendors whether they will accept a viewing or not. I'm seeing somewhere on Monday and I'm not proceedable. But my house will sell quickly and I know I can afford it.

You should ask. But in this market, people have no incentive to allow unproceedable buyers to view.

Depends on what the vendors have decided - if there is an Open Day and they get offers, if you need to sell your own house to proceed then you might lose out at that point, so don't get too attached to the property just in case!

It’s worth a try but everyone thinks their house will go in a flash. We are in a very hot area but people have become greedy and some of the houses have been sticking. Once it’s been on the market for 1-2 months they realise.

If the house you are interested in is being greedy maybe it’s worth a shot but if it’s sensibly priced you will be struggling.

In my experience, for something like an open house where you can be part of a group booking or the estate agent is there anyway, they may well let you in, an individual appointment with a vendor or the agent where they have to tidy/turn up just for you, not so likely.

We did before covid but it depends how much demand there is for the house you want to view . Just ask !

Sandinmyhooves · 26/03/2022 17:20

You can always ask but I’d also get on the market asap. Houses around here are gone in a couple of days.

Rrrob · 26/03/2022 17:35

Ok will ask, they can always say no. Thanks everyone!
