Making conservatory more usable

Bit like the thread title really!

Our conservatory is quite big (12ft by 12ft) and has been used as a playroom/dumping ground and I've grand plans this year to make it much more into an attractive place to sit!

Had a quote to change the roof into a more energy efficient roof (not cheap but manageable) but currently there's no heating in there. Not sure what the best options might be? Flooring is currently a cheap and cheerful carpet that I'd didn't mind being trashed by playdoh etc

I'd really like it to be a place for the dc (who are now really beyond the age of needing toys ) to sit and watch TV or me with a nice glass of wine haha but usable all year round.

Has anyone done this? What did you do? Looking for inspiration!!!

We needed to deal with our conservatory. Polycarbonate roof so hit 50°C in summer and went down to 1°C in winter and chewed to bits by the tenants' dog when we rented the house out while we were abroad.
We fitted a solid fibre glass roof and replaced the glazing with upvc better insulated windows but the best thing we did was to fit an air source heat pump so we can heat in winter and cool in summer. We have solar panels so I'm looking forward to running the air con for free over the summer, and on bright days we can switch off the gas fired central heating in the lounge, open the doors and heat more economically using the heat pump.
We now have a space which is useable year round, as apposed to a space which was useable for a few days in spring and autumn.

I have two solid walls and two glass walls. With the roof being mostly glass it is very light. Our foundations are 2m. Clay and nearish to a tree though.

I think a decent roof that isn’t solid let’s a lot of light in. You can also have opening vents in the glass. I’m never sure that doing lots of work to a basic conservatory is worth it. Mine is 12 years old now and no issues but it cost a fortune!
