How much should a small bathroom refit cost and how long?

Living abroad and renting out our flat through an agency. They suggested a bathroom refit to update it and I agree it has to be done.

The agency quoted several thousand pounds. I'm sure that it's overpriced, but on the plus side they will be on hand to supervise. Otherwise I'm not sure how we could get it done, get keys sorted etc from abroad. (No family nearby.)

I have no idea how long or how much these things take. For a no frills 6'x8' bathroom, new bathtub/shower, sink, toilet and laminate and probably a paint job, how much should we expect to pay and how long should it take?

Thanks for any advice!

we had ours done in London in 2020 and was around 4k (for the labour/basics - we bought the shower, bath, sink on top of that). a couple of weeks ish. timing very dependent on your workers, getting everything on site on time, no issues etc.

Just be aware prices, both materials and labour, have gone up since 2020.

We are having a new bath, toilet, basin, shower door and plinth and storage done next week. Cost is about £4k. They reckon it will take a couple of days.

I paid around £5k outside London for a full refit, all the fittings, tiling (I bought the tiles but everything else including flooring and painting was included in that bill) several years ago. Mine took a full week.

I know someone who just paid almost £8k for a full refit of a small bathroom - have to say, I think that is NUTS. It didn't even need doing either.

I really wouldn't have laminate flooring in a bathroom. Tiles or sheet vinyl would better for wet conditions.

We're outskirts of London, doing ours as part of a bigger scheme of work soon but quotes given in January this year for labour & tiling (8x5ft room, excluding suite and tiles) were around £4k. Will take around a week.

I paid £3.5k recently - plaster ceiling, paint, some tiling, new suite and flooring. This guy was a bargain though and I sourced the suite myself from Victorian plumbing so that was cheaper than having the plumber do it. It took about 4 days but not full days

We've just been getting quotes to redo our bathroom. Standard size bathroom fully tiled, supplied and fitted quotes have varied between £5.5-£7.5k. I'm still in shock but worried that leaving it too long will result in the costs shooting up even more!

I think when they look at a bathroom that doesn’t need doing and it’s just been done for aesthetic reasons they add 20% to the bill because they think they can get away with it on the basis that you’re about to rip out perfectly good fittings.
