Any idea what these are?

Moved a heavy piece of furniture that hasn’t been shifted for many months and found these in a pile right in the corner next to the skirting board. I’ve attached a photo but in case it’s not clear they are pretty much cylindrical and quite regular so look man made rather than natural. About 3x4mm with flat ends and very hard. Pale beige in colour.

Any suggestions?

Dried up shrivelled cheerios.

That made me laugh - and then immediately empty the bin into the outside wheelie bin.

Hmm…last person who stayed in that room was my 89YO MIL. 🤔🤔🤔

They’re not some sort of cavity wall insulation are they? Are there any air vents in the room?

FlouncingBabooshka · 17/03/2022 20:58

A friend also suggested that @Rosser. We’re not sure if there’s cavity wall insulation but there doesn’t seem to be anywhere it could have got in. There’s an air brick but it’s at the top of the wall on the other side of the room. It’s also very hard but maybe old cavity insulation hardens.

It’s hard to gauge size and texture from the photo but they’re reminding me of Leone pastilles - hard little Italian sugar sweets.

BeanStew22 · 17/03/2022 21:16

Look like plant food pellets to me OP - is your MIL a keen gardener?

hilbil21 · 17/03/2022 21:18

They look like some sort of old granny type sucky sweet. Fisherman's friend etc Grin

Dog training treats?

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 17/03/2022 21:45

Hard to judge the size from the photo, could they be from inside one of the silica anti moisture packets you get inside all kinds of things?

pilates · 17/03/2022 21:49

My first thought was cavity wall insulation
