How would you supply utility bills as partof the ID check if you don't hae any bills for the last 3 months? I've completed on my house late last year but still haven;t managed to buy, but may find something very soon as I;ve lowered my criteria (prices gone up!).
I'm also considering an auction property where again the mention doing ID checks online.
My mail has been redirected so I do have letters to my old adress from banks but no utility bills. I@ve bee staying partlly at friends' partly airbnb because this is much cheaper than taking on 6month rental. I'm now concerned about this - but there must be others in this position - what happens in these cases?
Would it be enough to provide proof that I@ve sold my house months ago, along with proof of funds? TIA

These are the requirements by solicitors.

Documents to prove identity:

UK/EU photo driving license
Passport
Residence permit
HMRC tax letter
State pension Benefits letter

Documents to prove address:

Bank statement
Utility bill
Latest mortgage statement
Council tax bill
Rent card or tenancy agreement from your local authority

Your solicitor will be able to advise you on specifics to your situation. It's not unusual.

Never. They'll never sell up. I've given up hope of it ever happening.

Not even sure some of them will actually shuffle off this mortal coil. If there's any generation, en masse, that's going to discover the elixir of immortality, it's the baby boomers. (Though the way the world is going right now, they're welcome to it.)

Based on previous behaviour, the rest of us will be living in tents and eating berries and rabbits and many of the boomers will still be going on cruises every 5 minutes in between clinging to their 4 bed houses with huge gardens and moaning about how they can't get a carer/gardener/cleaner/dog walker for the rates they're willing to pay....that's when they're not telling their grandkids they should just give up their Netflix and smashed avocado on toast and then they'll be able to afford a house deposit in no time...(not based, at all, in any shape or form, on personal conversations here...)

Line thank you, I know what the requirements are as I went through buying process recently but it's fallen through due to my sale stalling.

I've got ID checks from your first section but nothing from the 2s as I have no bills staying in Airbnbs. I do have bank statements with my old address on as I get mail redirection but I'm not actually at the old address so not sure if that's risky / not legal. Also I remeber needing two itens from that list and I only have bank/cards statements.

I think you meant to post on the Boomer-bashing thread.

bumping
Can anyone advise from their experience, or if you are a conveyancer?

Can you just use the comveyancer from your sale? They will I think be able to use the previous ID checks?.

CatAndHisKit · 17/03/2022 21:30

forcedfun do you mean the same one? yes I thought of that, but they may be a stickler for rules and will requite bills for the last 3 months - but I will try. Previous purchase fell through over 6months ago now.

Yes my lawyer accepted documents with my old address as she had handled the sale.

CatAndHisKit · 19/03/2022 20:40

thank you ukborn - so I will use the sae lawyer even though they were not that great! What about estate agents on buyers side, don't they need more than a passport and proof of funds?

I think if you explain it should be acceptable. I had sold my house over three months before I bought the new one and I don't remember it being an issue. They accepted my paperwork with the old address even though they knew I had sold it.

Twiglets1 · 20/03/2022 06:57

My daughter had the same problem recently- no utility bills in her name. Her solicitor allowed her to provide a bank statement instead even though she is not currently living at the address on her bank statements

Twiglets1 · 20/03/2022 06:58

People’s situations are often complicated and that is understood by solicitors etc
