Where can I put my fridge?

Hello everyone,

Can you advise?

I've attached a drawing I've made.

Moving in soon and don't have the budget to knock down walls. Lovely U shaped kitchen. Opening to conservatory which will be my dining area.

Currently the owners have a small under the counter fridge, and a large free standing one in the snug area (although a good decent size). This looks unsightly having a fridge sticking out but I can see why they do it.

I was hoping to build a bench seating area, and a small glass table where the fridge is now so we can chat with the kids/friends whilst cooking etc.

Where can I do with the fridge situation?

Do I
a) keep the big fridge in the corner, but box it in, or create something around it, with it??
b) you'll see another room outside of the kitchen, could I put a big fridge there with most of our food, and just use the under counter for basics. How practical is that?

Any ideas you marvellous lot?

I'd start with option b and see how you get on. You can always move to option a later.

You put it in the pantry room and keep every day stuff in the smaller one. We Di this with our utility room. I have milk, juices, sauces and spreads, pack lunch stuff and some veg/salad in the kitchen. In the utility I keep meat, ingredients, big/more veg, wine and fizzy pop. You get used to it very quickly. (It helped that we moved from a house with 1 small fridge so now I feel completely spoilt with 2 fridges.)

I'd want a fridge that I didn't have to stoop to use day-to-day, and I'd want it close to the sink/work surface/kettle/oven.

A second fridge in a pantry is a great idea but you'd want a primary fridge in close proximity.

Thanks for the replies.

Yes I'd keep the small fridge under the counter. It's opposite the sink.

Can't see any other alternative. I thought as we don't have washing machine in kitchen maybe another small fridge but that's a faff.

Sorry, meant to add,

Can you think of a better use for the snug area with fridge there? I was wondering if we could box it in- build a bench next to it?? But I think having a little seating area is nicer.

Lol- Sunday morning with country homes magazine- must move and start tidying up!

I also have an under counter fridge in the kitchen (already there when we moved in) and a tall fridge-freezer in the utility (already owned one when we moved in).
Kitchen has been moved around a couple of times but I've kept the original under counter fridge (now over 20 years) and have replaced the original fridge-freezer a couple of times.

We keep drinks, fresh meat, fruit & veg in the FF, plus freezer stuff.
The kitchen fridge has milk, butter, cheese, spaces, eggs, sandwich meats, jams.

Could you get an integrated one in a style that complements the rest of the kitchen and perhaps build in a little bench seat so it looks more intended. Bit like this but without the l shape

Actually exactly what I was planning for- the bench and table. But fair point about the fridge being intergrated- but we're painting the original kitchen cabinets so not sure if we could match door for the fridge.

But yes-just like that.

You don't necessarily have to have the same. Pick a similar style of door (or as plain as possible) and have it dark if the rest is light or vice versa
My joiner made me a little bench seat frame with plywood top. I just ordered an additional tall end panel so he had enough matching material for the front. Ordered foam to size online and covered with leatherette (started out with fabric but I have messy kids!)
Presumably the owners are taking the fridge freezer so it wouldn't add much to the cost to do it this way
