Are composite doors naff?

Just asking

I can afford a wooden door
Don’t really care either way
Think the cost is about the same

Every door salesman has banged on about
Maintaining a wooden door - I really don’t think they need anything?

So basically ... aesthetically- will composite doors date badly? Will then be the new pvc on five years time?

Would my wooden door rot and fall apart of it incurs a scratch?

Thanks

We looked at wooden doors, the price was more than I wanted to pay. Composite was a compromise, but we got one in the same style as the wooden door we would have bought.

Maintenance on a good quality wooden door is generally minimal. But we have an issue with the door being in full sun all afternoon, so our previous (25 years+) wooden door needed oiling twice a year to maintain its look.

I have solid wooden storm doors and front door that are 160 years old. Still solid and looking lovely.

The good thing about wood is that you can get them refurbished and repainted which not only keeps them looking up to date, but also extends their life time well over that of a composite door.

We have solid wooden front door which is sheltered from the weather by a substantial roof overhang at front door.
We've had to retreated it twice in 20 years and it still looks very good
