Naked Doors - has anyone used them?

I'm changing the fronts of my ikea kitchen and am thinking of going with Naked Doors as their quote comes in substantially cheaper than Custom Fronts, Superfronts and Plykea. Has anyone used them? What do you think??

We are about to order with them to go on Howdens carcasses so can't give any feedback but I can reassure you that we're convinced by them! Friends have used them recently on top of ikea and are happy too. Out of interest, what style and colour are you going for? We're going for painted midgard front in navy with oak Smile

I think I'm going to go for painted Ladbroke fronts - either the pale pink, pale green or pale blue. I already have worktops and flooring so need to coordinate with that.

I used them recently. I can't fault the quality of the panels - we went for shaker fronts - but the process of pulling together an order list was painful. They didn't really support enough with that, I feel, and they put the ultimate responsibility on me if anything was missing.

We experienced a few issues:

  • the side panels were oversized for scribing in terms of width but not height, which is no good if you live in a period home with uneven floors (very common)
  • they didn't mention pelmets or cornices when I was ordering. In fact they refuse to discuss design at all, unless you're using Naked Kitchens of course (their full design service team)
  • the kitchen carcass providers (Ikea, Howden's) don't always know the exact size of unusual units, like a corner post. Naked Doors don't give any advice on this

All in all, it was really expensive and really stressful. But looks beautiful now. Good luck!

I feel a bit stressed that they are completely reliant on my measurements! I agree there hasn't been much guidance from them, and I'm a bit worried I'll end up with completely the wrong bits of wood. But agree it looks lovely.

Most of it should be fine - as in, the size of cabinets and dishwashers etc. should be standard.

The problem is unusual units or if you need filler. Our corner post went really wrong, and we bodged a solution in the end. We also found that their plinths didn't quite work for period houses, as again, the floor isn't even and the plinths are not at all oversized for this eventuality.

I'd also always get a bit more filler than you think you need, just in case.

I think if we had to do it again, I would have used our building company (who installed the kitchen), who actually offered to make the panels for almost half the price. We just didn't know them well enough at the time, but as it turned out their quality was excellent.

Our kitchen - holkham frost shaker doors

Naked Doors - has anyone used them?

That's beautiful. I'm tempted by the shaker fronts now. I think perhaps they're less trendy than the Ladbroke

Oh that looks lovely. I've never heard of Naked doors- will Google them. Good luck OP and PP.

A friend of mine used Naked Doors for her ikea kitchen but wasn't happy as the paint was chipping. But this was a few years ago and things may have improved.

peckpeckpeck · 13/03/2022 13:59

Oh no re chipping! Ours hasn't yet. The central panel has moved slightly away from the surround in one door, but Naked Doors said that was normal. They do provide a spare pot of paint for touch-ups.

We first used them back in 2016 - seems like a lifetime ago now. not for a kitchen but a boot room hall way. Still looks like it did the first day it went in. Since then we have used them a few times and are delighted. I'll post some photos when I get a sec. We did go to see them in Norfolk again when we bought a full kitchen inbetween lockdowns and it has changed a lot. The most interestintg bit was their scratch samples. They had a new type of paint and asked us to hit it with hammer and scratch it with a screw driver. AMAZING.
