Wouldn't you neutralise before selling?

@Igmum

I was flicking through and thinking meh, nothing much wrong with this then OMG picture 5 🤣🤣
Yeah, me too. The blue in the kitchen isn't my thing, but pale enough to paint over... then WHAM Sistine Chapel on speed!

No I wouldn't suggest they neutralise because you never know if someone has your taste but I would offer £10k below ti cover new doors in the kitchen and completely changing the living room

BellatrixOnABadDay · 10/03/2022 12:51

Wow!

Not to my taste but I absolutely love it somehow! I love how they've had the guts to just go for it.

Hope it's brought the owners lots of joy. I wouldn't want the task of painting over the ceiling though!

irishfarmer · 10/03/2022 12:52

WOW! Imagine going around to pick up your colleague and she says, I'm nearly ready come in for a min and being told to wait in the sitting room.

Not to my taste at all, but I do understand not wanting to paint over it. It probably took a lot of effort and whilst they know there is a really high chance it will be changed by the new owners they can't bear to be the ones that do it.

Riverlee · 10/03/2022 12:54

Wow, what a room! To be fair, wouldn’t look so bad if they had less dominating furniture or a plainer carpet. Everything is too ‘busy’ in that room.

SweetNcrunchy · 10/03/2022 13:08

If you imagine it with no furniture and bits and bobs in it, then the house is fairly plain, apart from the sitting room ceiling. It is a bit scruffy but looks solid enough. I would hate to buy a house that someone had painted white very quickly just to sell.

I'd probably get all the other rooms painted first and a new kitchen and leave the sitting room to last, after all my friends and family had had a good laugh at it.

jay55 · 10/03/2022 13:56

I was distracted by the open cupboard door in the kitchen, then bam!

FuglyHouse · 10/03/2022 14:21

There's a guitar and amplifier in the living room. They must have some wild nights in there!

Icaru · 10/03/2022 14:26

I actually really love that ceiling Grin it would definitely make the house memorable at least. Without the rug and furniture I'd be tempted to keep it as a talking piece.

Icaru · 10/03/2022 14:28

That cityscape though is horrendous and so tacky, see it in every cheap new build show house!

CandyLeBonBon · 10/03/2022 14:30

@InTheKitchenAtParties

Screaming at the Sistine Chapel 😂😂😂
I was thinking exactly that!!
ethelredonagoodday · 10/03/2022 14:35

Wow! 😳🤣

livyaz · 10/03/2022 14:40

Hellfire, I love the ceiling!
I have so many questions though... who did it???!!!

viques · 10/03/2022 18:54

@TillyTopper

The Mumsnet Sistine Chapel screamer needs that living room! I imagine she'd have a ball!
Think of the poor neighbours, they would never get a minutes peace.
agedmother · 10/03/2022 20:01

Love the ceiling. Personally I'd keep it, and do the rest of the place up to match. Startling and wonderful discovery in such an unremarkable house from the curbside.

Same here!!
maslinpan · 10/03/2022 22:22

Do you think the estate agents dithered for ages about how best to describe the lounge?

Gingernaut · 10/03/2022 22:32
@lgmum same! I was like aww let the dog in then BAM!
Same. Grin

Same! I was thinking 'OK it's a bit colourful but quite fun and nothing a quick paint job wouldn't fix' and then got to picture 5! 🤣
Scorchedterf · 10/03/2022 22:42

If I bought that house I’d keep the ceiling. It’s so individualistic and a change from muted neutrals and polished concrete

Shoemadlady · 10/03/2022 22:46

A match is the only solution! (Kidding obv!)

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 10/03/2022 23:31

The headboard!!

GreenClock · 10/03/2022 23:39

It’s a bit scruffy and untidy. That would put me off more than anything else.

I think the ceiling is great! I also like the pale blue kitchen.

I’d bet a tenner that the vendors are good fun on a night out.
