Composite doors

Hi, we are considering new front & back composite doors as were advised wooden doors (preferable option) would be very expensive. There would be a side panel with glass & a fan light above on front & just a fan light at back. We have just received our first quote for Palladio doors & its over £9000 in total. Has anyone else had one of these doors fitted? Tbh, we understand this is an expensive brand but this sounds an extortionate amount or are we a bit out of date with the price of things?

Is that quote for one door?
Im not sure if the fan light makes a big difference but I had a composite door fitted in September, 1000mm wide with 2 frosted panels at either side and everything, inc removal of existing porch windows, came to approx £2500. I went with a good quality upvc for back utility / side door as couldn't justify the price. Rock door fitted by independent glazing company. Edge of. London.

Thanks for the response Ribb. The quote Is for both doors but you might have a point re back door, so we should perhaps consider that. The back door gets a lot of sun so we need something that is secure & doesn't contract & expand too much. I have a friend who's had terrible hassle with a back south facing upvc door.

I've just had a Solidor quote for £1600, so that does sound like a lot.

I paid 6000 euros for a palladio door and 6 triple glazed a rated windows.

RealRaymondReddington · 07/03/2022 20:33

Yes that's loads. Our Solidor was £1400 ish with fitting in September and the quality is fantastic.

Wow Ellaraine, thats making our quote sound very expensive- not that we needed convincing about that! We have another company coming tomorrow, may be interesting to see what their quote is then.

@Clrcarter
Our back is north-facing so dont have to worry about the sun!
Post back with an update when you've selected. I've heard there are long lead times for composite at the moment so good luck!
