How to get to view a Purplebricks house

Looking for insights and help.

Saw a property we liked on Purplebricks. Created an account with them to be able to request viewing. Vendor is doing them themselves. Request viewing slot. No response - didn’t decline time or suggest alternative. I then get email from Purplebricks asking why I didn’t complete the viewing! Send message through Purplebricks system saying we are still keen to view and what days/times would suit you? Four days later it hasn’t even been read let alone responded to.

How does Purplebricks work? Do people actually want to sell their houses who use them? Could they have sold and Purplebricks haven’t updated? I am now not sure whether to punt for another viewing and see if they accept or just give up?!? Thoughts please!

4 days is nothing really. Anything to do with house buying is slow and laborious. I'd just move on to the next house and reassess things if the original lot come back to me at some point in the future

I'm selling with purple bricks and check my account daily, I reply to every viewing request that day - because I want to sell!

FiftyStoriesHigh · 04/03/2022 09:31

They’re slow. And at the moment, 4 days is a long time because good houses are selling fast.

I kept trying to view a house with purplebricks but had to give up. It kept saying it was not available despite still being on purplebricks website, Rightmove etc. I've had bad experiences with them before as well.

Purple bricks can work for a motivated seller, but in my experience many who use it like the idea of selling their house but they're not prepared to pay for a regular estate agents expertise and experience. So the process often drags on much longer than it needs to, or falls apart as there's no-one with experience to help hold chains together or push things along.

I would walk away. #If it's this difficult to get a viewing, imagine how frustrating the rest of the process will be if you want to buy the house.

Do you live locally? Can you put a note through the door with your contact details?

amibeinghysterical · 04/03/2022 09:46

Don’t buy with Purple Bricks or any online agent. Sellers using the online agents save an absolute fortune but the buyers end up dealing with all the extra work and stress. It’s a fantastic deal for sellers, who save thousands of pounds, and an absolutely terrible deal for buyers who end up with mountains of extra work and stress and the high likelihood of their chain collapsing. In case you can’t guess I have just sold a house using a proper agent and bought from someone using an online agent. The purchase was a complete nightmare at every turn. I would never, ever buy through an online agent again. Save yourself the hassle while you still can.

I used an online agent which was fine. The mistake I made was using their conveyancing firm. This turned into a full time job.

Thanks for the responses. We aren’t local so can’t just pop a note in. I do think they can’t be that motivated. They have been for sale for a bit in a fast market that is odd. Think with regret we will need to leave it and focus on properties we can see!

The house opposite went up for sale with Purple Bricks last Friday. They had four viewings on the Saturday and accepted an offer over the asking price before the end of the day.

They're good neighbours. I'll be sad to see them go.

Purple bricks is rubbish- a seriously bad mistake for a vendor to market their property through them. All you an do is make an appointment to view and then phone to confirm viewing

redfairy · 05/03/2022 09:22

Personally I wouldn't view any property on with Purple Bricks. You are reliant on the seller for arrangements and in my experience responses are pretty variable.
