Getting bulk bags of sand/aggregate etc delivered - how much space

This is .. niche! But I wondered if anyone knew how accurate those delivery flat-bed cranes are?

Im having 8 bulk bags of aggregate delivered kerbside, and I won't be able to barrow it in off the road immediately. I have an alleyway that's about 1.5m wide within 2m of the road, and I wondered whether they might be able to lower it into that?

do they have to lower the bags over a wall or anything to get them into the alleyway? Can the big crane definitely park safely right next door?

It might come down to having to ask the delivery person on the day - i've had some who are v helpful & get into tiny spaces and others who don't.

If the driver's any good and not in a hurry, they're perfectly capable of placing the bags almost inch-perfect, certainly within six inches/150mm or so.

As long as they can park the truck with the crane right by the alleyway, it shouldn't be too difficult, but you might need to ask nicely. If they're not inclined to be helpful then there's a chance they'll point to T&C's and say you're only entitled to kerbside delivery etc.

Where are they coming from?

Online places like gravel master do pallet delivery so will be harder.

If you put them in the alley can you still get at them and do they need to be in a particular order or are they all the same?

Definitely possible but also definitely have conversation with and plan ahead with whoever you're purchasing from.

Thanks all - really appreciate the advice and sorry for delay coming back. I realised when I went to properly measure that the alleyway is narrower than I thought - but luckily a neighbour is allowing us to use his off-road parking space so problem solved!
Thanks again.
