When to chase?

We are 5 weeks into selling our property and buying another. We’ve had our mortgage offer, searches done, survey done, answered first set of enquiries from our buyers solicitor. Buyer had their valuation on our property

We were due to go and see the property we are buying last Friday to measure up but due to us all coming down with COVID, we had to cancel. We emailed the EA yesterday to ask if we could reschedule the visit - he said he had left a message for seller and would come back to us. This particular EA from the branch doesn’t always get back to us. The colleague is much better. When do we chase this?

Also, when should we expect to hear anything more from our solicitors? Our aim is to move end of March/beginning of April - coincide with Easter holidays.

Give the EA 24 hours and call your solicitor for an update.

We were told the average wait time is 8-12 weeks

Thanks. It’s been 24 hours - terribly worried about being an absolute nuisance. Equally, don’t want to always bother the solicitor when they are probably working on things in the background.

BUT - as time slips by I become more and more concerned that we will miss our aim of end of March/early April!

We've just had an offer accepted on a property this week and the EA said current completions are minimum 12 weeks, even with just us & the vendor being the only parties in the chain. It all depends on how on the ball the solicitors and the vendor are really I think.

No @parkrunner1977 it depends how quickly the mortgage lender gets the actual mortgage paperwork out, how quickly the searches come back from the LA, how quickly the seller answers enquiries, how quickly the mortgage lender answers on any issues sent to them.

If you want it to happen in that time scale you'll need to chase on at least a weekly, if not twice weekly basis. Forget about being a nuisance, it's the only way to make things happen.

Yeah, fair enough. On our part we have gone at lightning speed but now silence.

I’m just worried that the EA haven’t come back to us with a rescheduled measuring up appointment…but then they’ve got their offers now so I suppose we aren’t priority!!
