Looking at possibly selling but need to paint lounge to make it lighter as I added a new roof to conservatory and it has made it very dark . it is 20x11 so fairly long and narrow. Currently have tv on wall down one end and 2 sofa like an l shape taking up 3/4 of room and a small study area at other end .Would you make it one area?

2nd area is kitchen dinner would you return it too dinning room or fo you think below set up is ok .pic included in next post .
excuse the mess.

I would repaint the living room in a fresh bright white. And hang new curtains in one colour (maybe to match your sofas) with hook backs that pull them up and away from the windows in the day. You could even ditch the curtains between the conservatory and living room altogether but it'll make you cold and you still have to live there. 😅

Remove everything from your front windowsill apart from 1 vase of fresh flowers. Only hang a few pictures on the wall.

The furniture formation is fine, but I'd store a few of the tables and try to keep it paired back to just sofas, side board, arm chair and desk. The cupboard above the desk is a bit much, and is the first thing they'll see when they walk in the room so I'd ditch that. But I think having the room zoned as you currently do is the right thing. It might feel very long and weird without that.

The kitchen will be flogged as a "breakfast kitchen" rather than kitchen diner but I think it's groovier like that. Dining rooms may make a come back, but your kitchen is nice and airy as it is so I wouldn't change it back!

P.S I like your style. These are just tips based on my selling our old house last year. White is right!

Dulux do a paint range that is supposed to help reflect light for dark spaces.
Agree with trying to let as much light as possible through the window. You mentioned the conservatory. How is that dressed as they often look like wasted space.
Zone it how it looks best for sale and necessary how you use it

Painting it white would be helpful in making the room look brighter.

Also you need to declutter ruthlessly. Anything that's not pinned down needs to find a home in a cupboard, charity shop or bin. It's really off putting when you go to a viewing and the whole place is cluttered. It puts me off the property as it makes me (irrationally) feel as if the vendors have not cared for the house.
