Anyone else hate their induction hob and gone back to electric!?

Or is it just me whose thinking of doing this!?

Ever since we had our induction hob fitted four years ago we've had intermittent problems with it eg some days certain rings not working, or needing to put it ALL the way up for any heat to radiate at all. Not every day but once a month or so. Over the last month however all rings bar one have stopped working. It's correctly fitted and we're using the correct pans. I called the company we bought it from and they said they've never heard of other negative feed back or experiences of induction hobs, so is it just me that wants to give up on it and try electric instead, or is it worth trying a different induction hob!? It's a good quality one and I'm aware they can be expensive to fix so I'd be tempted to just start again, but induction or electric!?

Interested in others experiences on this somewhat dull topic! Thank you Xxx

I like how easy it is to clean, but pans are expensive, just because they have a metal plate on their bottom. When I have all four hobs on, some do cut out and if there is a pan boiling over, then hob goes off, so it’s a bit annoying. But I do like if I leave one hob on without a pan, then it goes off.

@newtolineofduty I can't remember exactly...might have been to do with being unable to switch it on....or the controls not working right.
I had the cover from Domestic and General. I phoned to order a home repair and they advised me to take out the cover as (at the time) you could take the cover and immediately claim on it.....now 10 years later having got me to cover other appliances I have paid for it over and over.....lol!! I'm still paying for the washing machine which is 10 years old....I could have bought 2 new ones for the cover price....but now it's so old I dare not stop the cover. ....

Oh and the pans I bought at the BBC Food and drink show about 16 years ago and they are still going strong. They have many years life in them and they are now used on gas.

I have a little electric one at the moment, slow like hell, takes ages to warm up/cool down, I'll be replacing with an induction one soon.

Thanks so much everyone! Glad I posted! Think we'll try for a different induction one! You've actually all reminded me of how awful my mums ceramic one was when we moved in with her temporarily last year-used to drive me mad every night!!!! 😂

@Mumdiva99 we live on the edge and don't usually take out cover for that reason 😂😂😂

We put a cheap induction hob in our last hoiluse and it was crap. Make sure you get a good powerful one and it should work much better.

ikeepseeingit · 17/02/2022 08:30

I used to hate induction jobs until I moved and was forced to use one. Turns out all the ones I had used before were bad hobs! This hob is amazing and honestly better than a gas one. I second peoples thoughts on getting a good induction before you move to gas, particularly if you’re going to have to put gas into your kitchen for it. I even managed to convince my parents when they moved house, they are also a little bit obsessed with their induction after previously wing set against them.

JustJam4Tea · 17/02/2022 08:30

We had a medium priced one that I really liked. Now have a v expensive neff one that is slightly too clever for me. But wouldn’t go back to gas or ceramic.

I like the ease of cleaning, it’s quick, and our old gas one was pants really as v old.

We often bbq stuff like steaks/fish rather than use hob as have gas bbq just outside back door.

If rebuking I’d get an induction with knobs you turn as the whole it not recognising you are trying to change it gets irritating.

I love my induction hob, much prefer it to gas or electric. We have a Bosch induction hob, it’s great.

FurierTransform · 17/02/2022 08:49

You need to get a decent brand one. Cheap ones suck. Good ones are excellent.

Alcoh · 17/02/2022 08:52

Definitely a fault with yours OP. I have had 2 induction hobs in different houses and won’t go back. Altho I have one of the induction hobs that also has one gas ring too. They are amazing because you use the induction day to day and then when you want to put the odd pan on that isn’t induction friendly eg a Le Creuset casserole dish - then you use the gas. But I love love induction. Quick. Sensitive. Easy to clean. Your have definitely got a faulty hob.

Love mine, a Neff. Never thought I'd give up gas after 30 odd years but I wouldn't go back.

ZeroFuchsGiven · 17/02/2022 16:20

Im glad to see posters are happy with their Neff ones. Ive never had induction before and having a new kitchen at the end of june, I have chosen a Neff, it looks super complicated though with wifi and god knows what else .

Roselilly36 · 17/02/2022 16:46

Neff/ Bosch/ Siemens are the same manufacturers.

DSGR · 17/02/2022 16:47

I hate mine with a passion and would
Love to go back to gas. But won’t for environmental reasons.
But yours does sound faulty..
