Hoping someone may be able to help me - do you know any stonemasons?!

We have built our own home and I’m very new to this. Our builder sacked the stonemason and did the stone himself.

He has reached above lower level window height and it’s now become apparent that the courses don’t meet the top of the window and because we don’t have lintels the builder has done a course of slim stone above the windows.. I’ve been told this isn’t right?!?

Can anyone confirm? Should he have calculated and lined up the courses from the first course? Should the first course have been slimmer so that everything lined up once it reached the windows / doors etc?

I’ve asked builder DH who said without pics it would be hard to tell exactly but no, it doesn’t sound right. On the face of it it sounds concerning that there are no lintels as they support the weight of the elevation.

Stone masonry is a really specific skill and your builder has most likely made a mistake sacking him unless it was for a specific reason.

Apologies I should have been clearer, there are steel lintels but the issue is that there are slim stone bricks above the window to meet the courses on the right and left of the window as when the course has reached the top of the window height it is higher than the window itself. I’ve done a drawing but it’s very basic!!
