I’m hoping someone can help. We are looking at moving to Malvern but know very little about it besides what you can find on Google maps! We’ve spoken to a couple of agents and one told us our budget wasn’t big enough for Malvern and the other said it would be fine.

Ideally we’d like:
4 bed detached
Large garden
In catchment for Malvern schools
Up to 650k, less if it needs work

For those who know Malvern and the surroundings is this a realistic goal? Are there particular areas we should avoid or ones we’re more likely to find something?

Any local info on the schools would also be great!

Hello! I live in a village just outside Malvern. When you say catchment for Malvern schools, which ones in particular? If it’s for secondary the catchment areas are large. You may not get what you want directly in Great Malvern but your budget is achievable in the surrounding areas 10 minutes drive out.

Hi! That’s exactly what we mean- not in Great Malvern itself but in one of the surrounding villages that have or are close to a primary school (not necessarily a Malvern primary) but in catchment for a good comp (The Chase is one I think?). We’re just struggling to find much information about the surrounding villages. We just want somewhere family friendly, not as busy as South Wales, that we can move to and then stay put. It just seems like a lovely area so would be grateful for any tips/knowledge Smile

If I was you I would contact Kate at Emdot property www.emdotproperty.co.uk
She is the best, most caring and passionate estate agent I have come across. She also knows all the local agents, she provides a property finding service. The Chase catchment area is big so you have loads of options, I’m in Leigh Sinton village which is lovely, but you can go out to Powick and still be in catchment for the Chase. Honestly, call Kate she will look after you.

I love Malvern, don't live there but visit often! I think your budget sounds absolutely fine for the area. In Malvern Town itself there are a lot of apartments and older houses where you might struggle to find a large garden. There are also quite a few houses built into the hills with tiered gardens going up the hills - these are probably not suitable if you want space for kids to play. However if you are looking in the surrounding villages or the less scenic bits of Malvern (ie the part not on the hills) then I'm sure you will find something.

I used to live in Malvern in one of the houses on the hills off the Wells Road. Whilst it was great to have direct access to the hills and amazing views across the Severn valley, you do lose the sun early. This is on the market today and closer to the town centre so doesn’t have that problem. Near The Chase for secondary schooling and within your budget. Needs work but looks liveable in www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/113793521#/?channel=RES_BUY . Is this what you have in mind?

Thank you. I’ve sent an email to Emdot properties, and also trying to convince my husband to view that house by The Chase school. I really like it, but I think he’s looking more at the surrounding villages hoping it’ll be quieter. It doesn’t look overly busy though, and where we live now is always twice a day during term time.
